Our Projects

Past, Present, Future
Brazil Compost

(current)

Located in Brazil, this project reduces 12,600 tons of carbon dioxide each year, or 126,000 tons over the 10-year life of the project, by recycling swine waste and converting it into compost. In doing so, the project protects the local water supply and the environment from potential contamination from waste run-off. It also creates a system to provide local communities with low cost and low carbon footprint compost that can be used as fertilizer in local farms. Previous methods of waste disposal produce significant amounts of methane, a greenhouse gas 84 times more potent than CO2, in the first 20 years after its release. Changing to a composting system will help eliminate this excess production of methane and the harmful effects it has on the environment.

Sidrap Windfarms

(past)

Sidrap Wind Farm is located in South Sulawesi and consists of 30 wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 75 MW. This project produces 253,000 MWh of renewable energy per year to the South Sulawesi national grid—that’s enough to power over 70,000 local homes. The Sidrap Wind Farm reduces Indonesia’s dependence on fossil fuels for power generation, providing clean electricity to a nation in need of power.

Why does environmental sustainability form one of our core values?

Our founder Suzanne grew up in the country, right in the thick of wildlife. This formed a deep connection and appreciation for nature and how it provides us beauty, healing and reconnection with ourselves.

Rather than contribute to mass consumerism, we are on a mission to share sustainable skincare and instil the desire to create positive changes that support the environment.

Our pledge by 2024

Presently, Bare Roots packaging is made from kerbside recycable plastic & glass, allowing the possibility of it to be repurposed.

We are constantly refining and improving our sustainability measures by opting for environmentally friendly alternatives. We have managed to eliminate all plastic in our packing processes allowing for materials to be 100% biodegradable or compostable.

Our goal by 2024 is to source a more natural, eco friendly material for our skincare packaging, allowing it to be safely biodegradable in landfill.

Who We Collaborate With

Biodegradable Packaging

Aiming to be either fully biodegradable by 2023 or refillable (an option we are still exploring). Our Flora Cream is the first in the range to be filled in a biodegradable tube.

Recyclable Packaging

The packaging we use is 100% recyclable so please be sure to recycle accordingly as plastics can be re-purposed up to 3 times to create new products!
